There is nothing more annoying than a creaking stool! Whether used on a dining area in the kitchen or around a bar in the living room, it can quickly emit a very unpleasant sound when you sit down or when you turn around. To overcome this, fortunately there are very easy and inexpensive solutions. Here are our tips to stop hearing the incessant creaking of your stools.
Find the cause of the squeak
First of all, you must find the source of the problem in order to be able to provide the appropriate solution. Indeed, the noise generally comes either from the seat which is not tight enough or from the base of the foot of the stool, namely the junction between the jack and the foot.
Grease the stool
Once the cause of the squeak has been established, prepare to overcome it! If it is the seat that causes squeaking, tighten the screws and bolts that secure the seat to the frame, removing it if necessary. If it is the base of the foot of the kitchen stool that is responsible for the squeaking, you will have to grease the junction using a silicone greasing spray or a lubricating aerosol. It's the same mechanism as when you put oil on a creaking door. Remember to turn the stool over on the seat to let it dry.
Put coat hooks under the feet of the stool
If your bar stool creaks every time you move it, it is most likely that the ends of its feet are not well insulated. Indeed, on tiled or parquet floors, a bar stool can creak as soon as you sit or stand up, which can be very unpleasant. Then stick coat hooks under the feet of the latter to no longer have to suffer this noise.
